Bus leaders and Bredesen deny parents choice

Many of these "business leaders" referred to in this article undoubtedly send their children to private schools as did Bredesen.

What they will smugly and cynically offer are tired "solutions" that have been tried over and over again. The one reform they will NOT offer is giving parents the same power of choice they had to avoid a public school system they decided was not the right choice for their children.


He discussed state efforts to allow people from the professions and other "non-traditional" teachers with expertise in areas such as science and math to quickly move into the classroom.

Other ways to improve the teacher quality, he said, include professional development, bonus pay for outstanding performance, and evaluating teachers more closely before they are granted tenure.
