Hardin Cnty Group Petitions for Sales Tax Repeal

Many Tennessee Citizens are not aware they can petition to increase OR decrease the local portion of the sales tax, i.e., that part above the 7% State sales tax.

A Hardin County group is reportedly petitioning for the repeal of a 1 cent sales tax that was supposed to be used for building schools. The petitioners believe it was not used as it should have beeen and they are gathering signatures on a petition to have the tax placed on the ballot so citizens can vote on repealing the tax.
