Tougher accountability standards for private schools

and lower standards for public schools? Hmmm.....there seems to be a pattern here?

Wont have to go to High School to get a diploma
The State Board of Education is considering giving students who score a 525 on the GED a regular high school diploma. Currently, those who pass the GED are not counted as graduates. By counting GED test takers as regular graduates, the state’s rate would increase fairy quickly.

Six years ago, federal education officials barred states from giving GED students a regular high school diploma because they believed the test was too easy.

Private Career Colleges must meet higher placement and dropout standards

“Their institutional average, they have to have a 75-percent placement rate. That means 75-percent of the people that graduated got a job. And their withdrawal rate cannot exceed 33-percent.”
