No change in 200 years is just fine for some in Giles

county. The Giles Home Rule group is gathering signatures for a petition to call for the creation of a new charter for Giles County. This would create a home rule government where citizens would have much more control over their government. Tennessee Tax Revolt has assisted the group in this effort.

As always, those who support the staus quo are upset over the prospect of change...of any kind, even if it means more open and accountable government.

One of the Commissioners was upset so he created a sign that expressed his opinion....this is too much reform for us to consider. 200 years is just too soon to reform county government.
