TN Taxpayers paying for "No Cost" Mass Transit

TDOT is just tickled pink. The have negotiated a "deal" with MATA where State employees in Memphis will ride the city buses at "no cost." State government agency is using taxpayer money to provide other State Government agencies "no cost" transportation. And of course any increase in rider stats will be used to justify even MORE "no cost" transportation.

I wonder if State employees will declare this in-kind compensation as income on their federal tax returns??

“TDOT is a big supporter of public transit across the state and we are pleased to be able to work with MATA to provide this service for state employees in the Memphis area,” said TDOT Commissioner Gerald Nicely. “This program will help reduce congestion on our highways and improve air quality in the Memphis area which are important goals for our agency.”
