Iowa Dems web attack:

Those wacky Democrats just hate politicians who love taxes.

DES MOINES – The Iowa Democratic Party began a campaign today arguing that Iowa can’t afford to go back to the failed policies of the past. The IDP campaign highlights important parts of Terry Branstad’s record, unveiling t-shirts and signs featuring the website . This kickoff of the Terry Loves Taxes Campaign coincides with Branstad’s entrance into the race, and is designed to ensure that voters are educated about the important differences between the candidates running for Governor.

At the event, Senate Majority Leader Mike Gronstal and State Representative Tyler Olson spoke to a crowd of supporters about the importance of reelecting Governor Culver, not returning to failed Republican policies of the past.

“Terry Branstad’s record as Governor should not make anyone eager to see him get back into politics, especially when the Republican Party and the state have changed so much since he last served,” Gronstal said. “The fact is, we have a Governor today in Chet Culver who has made tough choices, been swift and decisive in meeting the state’s challenges and has led us through the deepest recession in generations and the worst natural disaster this state has ever seen – all without raising taxes.”
