"Find me the nearest pedestal and elevate me." Most long time politicians are studies in arrogance and bubble living.
They almost universally believe their good intentions are uniquely worthy of implementation. By implication, they are instinctively dismissive of the ability of their constituents to make decisions about their own welfare. Yes, there are some who are simply cynical vote buyers but I have become convinced that most come to believe their own propaganda. By implication, they gracefully accept the notion that they are morally and intellectually superior.
Case in point: ALL, repeat ALL of the healthcare "reform" ideas being promoted have already been tried.
