I just finished reading Scott Rasmussen's (the pollster) new Book, In Search of Self Governance. It is an articulate and easy to read statement of Teaparty principles. I don't know if it was written with the Teaparty Movement in mind but it is a defacto TeaParty Manifesto. It is short, 71 pages, and takes about 90 minutes to read. I highly recommend this book for friends and family, anyone who wants to know what the TeaParty movement is about.
Today, Americans are united. United in the belief that our political system is broken, that politicians are corrupt, and that neither major political party has the answers. Add to this the growing disdain for the unholy alliance between the largest corporations and our government, and there's a lot of frustration festering in our country. Some of us are ready to give up; some of us are ready to scream a little louder. But all of us believe we can do better.
Americans don't want to be governed from the left, the right, or the center. We want to govern ourselves. The Amencan desire for — and attachment to - self-qovernance runs deep. It is one of our nation's chenshed core values and an important part of our cultural DNA. It’s what makes our nation special. And right now, it needs to be saved.
