Large Chambers of Commerce = Crony Capitalism

Most large Chamber's of Commerce receive taxpayer funds for so-called economic development. Many times this money goes toward overhead and general operating expenses and becomes a vital part of the chamber's revenue. Because of this and a general shift in membership towards non-profits, many of which also receive taxpayer money, large, urban chambers of commerce have become the leading voice for crony capitalism and higher local taxes.

Thankfully, there are a few government officials who will still raise their voices against this crony capitalism. Frank Nicely is one of those people. Thank YOU Frank.

Our taxpayer group, TN Tax Revolt, very often finds Chambers of Commerce as the loudest cheerleader for local tax hikes.
