Democrats are behind the Michigan "Tea Party"

according to TPM (a liberal blog) and virtually all the real Tea Parties in Michigan.

Ok, this is weird. Are Democrats really THIS desperate? Yes,

As state officials in Michigan review a proposed Tea Party's petition to appear on the November ballot, evidence is mounting that the party is a front for Democratic supporters hoping to rescue embattled Democrats this fall.

Hotline: Dems Taking on the Tea Party, Again

The Dems need to come up with an alternative to the Tea Party. They could call it the "Hey citizens, you are dumb as a rock and will screw up any decision we allow you to make so sit back and let us run your life" party.

"The Tea Party is now an institutionalized part of the Republican party. They are one and the same," a DNC operative said, previewing Kaine's speech. "The positions espoused by the Tea Party is the governing platform of the Republican party. And as voters make their choice this fall it's important to understand what the Republican-Tea Party wants to do if elected."
The DNC's decision to take on the Tea Party is a throwback to the party's initial criticism of the movement last year, as it arrived on the political scene - derisively referring to them as "tea baggers" (remember Pelosi's Astroturf comments?). But as disaffected voters began protesting en masse against the administration's health care and stimulus proposals last year, the Tea Party registered favorable ratings - better than both major parties -- forcing Democratic leaders to tone down their public criticism of the activists.

Keith Olbermann viewership numbers hit skids in July

Countdown with Keith Olbermann saw its lowest viewing average in over two years, since April 2008.   And while Keith was out for a few days during the month, that’s pretty customary in the summer, just like it was last summer.  Only the numbers were higher then.

Poll: Trust in the Federal Government is at an all-time low

The lefty Center for American Progress says their poll indicates Americans have never had less trust in their federal government. BUT, they (CAP) will turn things around with an innovative new program with the awe inspiring name "Doing what Works." Just sends chills up your spine.

The majority of the American public doesn't think that the federal government is getting the job done as cheaply and efficiently as possible. This, according to a new poll from the Center for American Progress.
The group recently teamed up with Hart Research and found that trust in the federal government is at an all-time low.

Can New Jersey taxpayers keep the Pension Promises?

made by New Jersey Politicians? Of course NOT.
The numbers are mind-numbing. As of June 2009, the state's pension systems faced unfunded liabilities of $45.8 billion. That number assumed an annual 8.25 percent return on investments, an actuarial standard that many experts are now declaring is unrealistic. In the past decade, the pension system averaged 2.56 percent a year, not nearly enough to keep pace with projected costs.
More pessimistic assumptions about rates of return peg the pension system liability as high as $173.9 billion — not to mention some $55 billion in unfunded health care costs.
Experts and officials have begun to say it more clearly: There is no way New Jersey will ever be able to pay for the promises it has made to current and retired workers.

Government run healthcare to be drastically cut in UK

The Government run, taxpayer funded British National Health Service is, very simply, unsustainable. Major rationing is the only way to stop the exploding costs.

An investigation by The Sunday Telegraph has uncovered widespread cuts planned across the NHS, many of which have already been agreed by senior health service officials. They include:
* Restrictions on some of the most basic and common operations, including hip and knee replacements, cataract surgery and orthodontic procedures.
* Plans to cut hundreds of thousands of pounds from budgets for the terminally ill, with dying cancer patients to be told to manage their own symptoms if their condition worsens at evenings or weekends.
* The closure of nursing homes for the elderly.
* A reduction in acute hospital beds, including those for the mentally ill, with targets to discourage GPs from sending patients to hospitals and reduce the number of people using accident and emergency departments.
* Tighter rationing of NHS funding for IVF treatment, and for surgery for obesity.
* Thousands of job losses at NHS hospitals, including 500 staff to go at a trust where cancer patients recently suffered delays in diagnosis and treatment because of staff shortages.
* Cost-cutting programmes in paediatric and maternity services, care of the elderly and services that provide respite breaks to long-term carers.
The Sunday Telegraph found the details of hundreds of cuts buried in obscure appendices to lengthy policy and strategy documents published by trusts. In most cases, local communities appear to be unaware of the plans.

Ole Joe Biden says Tea Party is "generically angry"

If I had no other reason to question Barack Obama's judgement, I can say without equivocation that allowing Joe Biden to roam freely in public is reason enough to be very afraid for the future of my Country.

Biden said it’s “understandable” that many Americans are angry about the nation's economic situation. But when voters start paying attention to what the GOP alternative is, Democratic prospects will improve.

"They don’t want to think about anything other than what's made them mad," Biden said. "Come September ... they're going to have to look at the alternatives and not just be generically angry."

Marketwatch analyst: Tea Party win might boost business mood

(FYI, slide audio progress button to 11:30 for Tea Party Comments.)

"Love 'em or hate 'em," a strong Republican or Tea Party showing in November might be a boon for Wall Street, according to Stephen Massocca of Wedbush Morgan. "I think it's going to make economic decision makers in private America feel more comfortable that the government isn't going to be tilting against them." Shorter term, "the beat goes on," says Massocca, as we hear from more companies meeting or beating earnings targets. And no wonder. He says the targets were set up that way.

Michigan Tea party aims to teach Constitution in schools

With school districts’ permission, Tea Party members could give presentations similar to business classes offered by Junior Achievement, said Gene Clem, president of the Southwest Michigan Tea Party Patriots.

He said the idea is not to promote the Tea Party’s political views.

“What we’re afraid of is individuals really don’t know where liberty, freedom and their rights come from, how the Constitution was written, the pain that went through in the summer of 1787 to write that and get it approved,” Clem said during a taping of Michigan Public Television’s “Off the Record.”
