Carroll kicked off her brief talk with a tip of the hat to the state's Tea Party movement and other conservatives in Northwest Florida who oppose too much government involvement in citizens' lives. She said one of the main charges conservatives face is to involve and educate voters on what the government's role is supposed to be.
Quoting President Ronald Reagan several times, Carroll said, “ 'Don't be afraid to see what you see.' The Tea Party wasn't afraid to see and speak out."
"Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction," said Carroll, as she continued on with another Reagan quote, advocating the importance of staying strong so a country can defend its citizens.
"Government's job is to protect people's lives, not run them," said Carroll, as she segued into the negatives of government-mandated healthcare.
