Dan Rather on the defeat of Carter, "in the end it was rejection of...liberal orthodoxy"

Dan Rather: "unemployment was the key issue all through this campaign especially in the midwest where Jimmy Carter won only one state, Walter Mondale's home state of Minnesota. And in the end it was rejection of the party and the liberal orthodoxy that had been in command in the 60's and 70's. People simply wanted a change."
